Congratulations to our Art Uptown Artist, Maro LorimerRhea Chiles and Maro Lorimer are shown at the opening reception for Beach Paths in 2010.
Maro Lorimer’s Beach Paths series has been curated into the prestigious art collection of Mayo Clinic.
“It will be a tremendous honor to have my art shown at an institution that exhibits the original work of many internationally known artists, including Joseph Albers, James Rosenquist, Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Wolf Kahn, Andy Warhol, Charles Munch, Alexander Calder, and even Auguste Rodin,” Maro says. “But, most of all, I hope these images of natural paths will offer comforting escapes for Mayo patients struggling with difficult diagnoses.”
Inspired by the wild paths of Florida’s west coast, the seven mixed-media collages were first presented in 2010 by former first lady of Florida Rhea Chiles at her gallery in Anna Maria. They were the prelude to the large seascapes Lorimer went on to show at Art Uptown for 11 years.
“From the intimate beauty of the paths, I emerged to paint the infinite vistas of the beach and shorelines,” she explains.
