Betty Altman
Betty Altman's career as an artist began as an oil painter, cum laude, in arts
from the University of Rochester, NY. Her work runs the gamut from figurative
to abstract contemporary painting. Trained as a realistic oil portrait and still
life painter at the Art Institute of Chicago, her media proficiency now encompasses
oils, acrylics, mixed media, watercolors, collage and monoprinting.
She has a world of top honors and ribbons and has been honored by exhits in Paris
at the Centre International de L'Art Contemporarian; in Washington, D.C. at the
Sumner Museum; at the Cork Gallery, New York; and Notable Venetians at the Venice
Art Center. Betty was selected Woman of the Year by Women Contemporary Artists
of Sarasota for the year 2000-2001.
Besides her own active art classes, she is one of the founders of Art Uptown
Gallery, Inc., and a member of many local and national associations.
